About Kapow Thai Eatery
Bring Thailand to your table.
Located at 34571 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, Kapow Thai Eatery operates as a thai restaurant serving Union City in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Union City, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–2 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (510) 253-8873. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is kapow.toast.site, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 81 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded thai restaurants in Union City.

Entry: You put ur name on the waitlist tablet by the door. It'll ask if your party is all there or partially. If you elect partially, you NEED to go back to the tablet and mark that everyone in your party has arrived otherwise they won't seat you. Menu: For a thai place, it def has a limited selection but I was able to find a few items that were vegetarian/vegan. Food: I got the fresh spring rolls with tofu for the appetizer. These were just ok but of course, peanut sauce MADE this worthwhile. For the entree, I really wanted to try the Ka Pow "must try" item but the waiter said it's just a stir fry that's mainly protein. For a vegetarian, I assumed that would just be a plate full of tofu so I elected to go with the Pad Kee Mao. IMO can never go wrong with drunken noodles, and I was right! It was delicious! Surprisingly, unlike other Thai places, they didn't ask for spice level. For dessert, my friend and I shared the fruit and ice cream (middle option). This was quite unique and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The ice cream was pandan flavor and came on top of a slice of bread. Service: The entire time we were there (1.5 hours), the guy seems to be the one seating people and being the

A beautifully designed modern Thai restaurant that I’ll definitely be coming back to. Every dish we tried was absolutely perfect, the interior was stylish and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Truly a wonderful dining experience!

First time eating here and came for dinner at a recommendation of a friend. We found the staff very attentive and friendly. They were patient answering all our questions about the food as the menu is fairly diverse and good selection. We ended up selecting the Crispy Pata and Kapow (veggie) dish for dinner as well as Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. All the dishes were excellent. The Crispy Pata was crispy and very tasty and the Kapow dish was very flavorable. For a drink, we had the butterfly ice tea which is a pea flower ice tea. Also very flavorable and enjoyable. The Mango Sticky Rice was excellent and well balanced between the rice and mango. We plan on going back again and trying out several other dishes which were recommended to us. Obtaining a table was very easy, though I suspect it may get crowded on the weekends. Parking is sufficient, but can be a challenge during weekend dinner hours.

Very cute local Thai restaurant, Union city doesn’t have enough restaurants like this. Nice place for an afternoon lunch and date night spot. I would definitely return! They have items labeled as gluten free or vegan. Not sure about how they handle allergens or cross contamination for celiacs tho.

We went to Kapow Thai Eatery tonight as a family of three, arriving a little before 6:30pm. There was no wait when we got there, which was nice since they don’t take reservations. Instead, there’s a tablet at the entrance where you can add your name to the waitlist. By the time we were seated, the restaurant had filled up quickly and a line was already forming outside. There were only two servers working tonight, so service was understandably a bit slow. We waited a while for water and eventually had to flag someone down for utensils. That said, the staff were friendly and clearly doing their best to keep up with the busy dinner rush. For families with kids, it’s nice to know they do have high chairs and kids’ dinnerware available. We ordered the scallop zapp, som tom, duck over rice, and pumpkin curry with pork. For drinks, we tried the Thai pink tea (salak fruit–flavored milk tea) and the butterfly pea lemonade. The highlight of the meal was definitely the som tom. It instantly brought me back to eating at a streetside vendor in Bangkok. The heat level was perfect for me and it had that signature funky punch that makes papaya salad so addictive. I would absolutely order this
